Kiersey Clemons’ role in the upcoming “Flash” film has been confirmed to be reporter Iris West, the classic love interest of Barry Allen, AKA The Flash.

According to Variety, West is described as “the tough-as-nails journalist and friend of Barry Allen, the alter ego of the Flash” in the movie.

Before Famuyiwa was attached to the project, Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write and direct “The Flash,” until parting ways with Warner Bros. over creative differences. Regardless, Grahame-Smith’s most recent draft, based on a treatment by “The LEGO Movie’s” Phil Lord and Chris Miller, is being used for the script.

The character Iris West is currently played by Candice Patton on The CW‘s small screen take on the scarlet speedster. It is believed that the big screen version of the character may first appear in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League, set to hit theaters November 17, 2017.
